Surrey Police seized suspected fake jerseys, luxury goods and clothing worth $6.6M after a yearlong counterfeit goods investigation.

Yearlong “Project Prada” Leads to Major Seizure

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has uncovered a massive counterfeit goods operation after a yearlong investigation known as “Project Prada”. As a result, police arrested one person and seized a wide range of suspected fake products linked to millions of dollars in lost retail sales.

The investigation began in June 2025. At that time, the SPS Prolific Offender Unit (POU) received information from the Canadian Anti-Counterfeiting Network (CACN) about possible counterfeit clothing and products being sold in Surrey.

Soon after receiving the information, investigators identified a person of interest and began collecting evidence. Over the following year, police tracked suspected sales activity connected to a Surrey residence.

Police Recover Thousands of Suspected Fake Items

Then, on June 17, 2026, POU detectives secured and carried out a search warrant at the location. During the search, one man was arrested, while a large collection of suspected counterfeit goods was recovered.

Overall, police estimated the seized items represented about $6.6 million in lost retail sales. The products included sports jerseys, designer clothing, watches, jewellery, handbags, footwear, and other luxury items.

Among the seized goods were:

  • 536 Adidas jerseys from soccer, NBA, and NHL collections
  • 1,758 Nike jerseys from soccer, NFL, NBA, and MLB collections
  • 131 CCM NHL jerseys
  • 375 Mitchell & Ness jerseys and caps from NBA, NFL, and MLB collections
  • 28 pieces of Hermès jewellery and footwear
  • 203 Louis Vuitton clothing items and handbags
  • 673 Gucci bags and footwear items
  • 340 Christian Dior clothing, bags, jewellery, and footwear pieces
  • 117 Burberry clothing items
  • 120 Bathing Ape clothing items
  • 19 Rolex watches
  • 85 Cartier watches, sunglasses, and jewellery pieces

Investigation Continues After Arrest

Meanwhile, the investigation remains active as SPS continues reviewing the evidence. The suspect was released from police custody shortly after the arrest.

For now, police have not shared further details about possible charges. However, SPS says the investigation is ongoing as officers work to understand the full scope of the suspected counterfeit operation.
