A 28-year-old Vancouver man faces a break-and-enter charge after police say he entered a Chinatown business through a broken window.
Police Respond to Chinatown Business
A routine morning in Vancouver’s Chinatown took an unexpected turn Monday after police were called to a business near Georgia Street and Gore Avenue.
The call came at about 7 a.m. An employee told police that a man had smashed a window and climbed inside the business.
However, the search did not end there.
Witnesses Help Police Find Suspect
Officers searched the building and checked video footage. They believed the man could still be inside.
Then, witness reports gave police a new lead.
Officers found the suspect on a second-storey fire escape. He was arrested without incident, according to the Vancouver Police Department.
Man Faces Break-and-Enter Charge
Police identified the accused as 28-year-old Raymond Chan.
Chan has been charged with one count of break-and-enter. The charge has not been proven in court.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 25.
The case will now move through the court process.
