Surrey Police investigate a suspected extortion-related shooting at a Cloverdale home. No injuries were reported as officers seek public tips.

Early Morning Gunfire Triggers Surrey Police Investigation

Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating after gunfire damaged a home in Surrey’s Cloverdale neighbourhood early Tuesday morning.

According to police, officers were called after a homeowner in the 16500 block of 58 Avenue discovered what appeared to be bullet damage. Shortly after, frontline officers arrived and confirmed the damage came from a firearm.

The incident happened at about 2:51 am on July 7, 2026. At the time, people were inside the residence; however, thankfully, no one was hurt.

Extortion Response Team Takes Lead

Meanwhile, SPS’s Extortion Response Team has taken charge of the investigation. At this stage, police believe the shooting may be connected to an extortion-related matter.

In addition, investigators are working to collect more information and identify anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity before or after the shooting.

Police Seek Dashcam and CCTV Footage

SPS is asking residents and drivers in the area to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation.

Therefore, anyone who was nearby at the time, saw something unusual, has dashcam footage, or has home security video from the area is encouraged to contact police.

Residents with information can call the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-70031 (SP).

As the investigation continues, police are reminding the public that even small details may help officers piece together what happened.
