A suspect faces first-degree murder and obstruction charges in the 2018 killing of a Delta man after an extensive eight-year homicide investigation.
First-Degree Murder Charge Filed in Long-Unsolved Delta Homicide
After nearly eight years of investigative work, police have announced a major breakthrough in the murder of a Delta man whose death shocked communities across Metro Vancouver.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) confirmed that a suspect now faces charges connected to the 2018 killing of Ian Roberts.
Arrest Marks Major Development
On June 11, 2026, Miikael Tattoo King, formerly known as Michael Branden Anderson, was charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice in connection with Roberts’ death.
The charges represent a significant milestone in a case that investigators have pursued for years.
Roberts, 43, lived in Delta at the time of his death.
Body Found in Pitt Meadows
The investigation began on April 30, 2018, when Ridge Meadows RCMP received a report of a body discovered in Pitt Meadows at about 2:30 p.m.
Officers attended the scene and identified the deceased man as Roberts.
Earlier that same day, Langley RCMP recovered a red 1996 GMC Jimmy linked to Roberts at approximately 6 a.m.
As the case unfolded, IHIT took over the investigation and worked closely with police agencies in Ridge Meadows, Langley, Surrey and Delta.
Investigators Followed Evidence for Years
According to investigators, the case required extensive analysis and years of detailed police work.
By carefully examining evidence and following numerous leads, investigators gathered crucial information about Roberts’ cause of death and the location where the killing allegedly occurred.
Police believe the homicide was a targeted incident involving people who knew one another.
Years of Dedication Lead to Charges
Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT said investigators remained committed to uncovering the truth throughout the lengthy and complex case.
She noted that years of persistence, detailed evidence review and continuous follow-up on leads ultimately helped move the investigation forward.
Fong also expressed hope that the latest development will provide some comfort to Roberts’ family and loved ones as court proceedings begin.
Case Now Before the Courts
With charges now laid, IHIT says no additional details will be released at this time.
The matter is now before the courts, where the judicial process will determine the next steps in the case.
For Roberts’ family, friends and the wider community, the announcement marks a long-awaited development in a homicide investigation that has remained active for nearly a decade.
