IHIT has charged a 45-year-old man with first-degree murder in the 2018 death of Delta resident Ian Roberts after an eight-year investigation.
Arrest Made in 2018 Delta Murder Case
After eight years of investigation, police have reached a major breakthrough in the murder of a Delta man whose body was found in Pitt Meadows.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced that a 45-year-old man now faces charges linked to the death of Ian Roberts, bringing renewed attention to a case that has remained unsolved since 2018.
Murder Charges Follow Years of Investigation
On June 11, 2026, prosecutors charged Miikael Tattoo King, formerly known as Michael Branden Anderson, with one count of first-degree murder and one count of obstruction of justice.
The charges relate to the death of Ian Roberts, a 43-year-old Delta resident whose body was discovered in Pitt Meadows nearly eight years ago.
The development marks a significant step forward in a case that investigators have pursued for years.
Body Found in Pitt Meadows
The investigation began on April 30, 2018, when Ridge Meadows RCMP received a report of a body at about 2:30 p.m.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a deceased man. Authorities later identified him as Roberts.
Earlier that same morning, around 6 a.m., Langley RCMP recovered a red 1996 GMC Jimmy connected to Roberts, according to police.
As the investigation expanded, IHIT took over the case and worked closely with police agencies in Ridge Meadows, Langley, Surrey and Delta.
Investigators Followed Key Evidence
Over the years, investigators examined evidence, tracked leads and worked to reconstruct the events surrounding Roberts’ death.
According to IHIT, the investigation helped uncover important details about the cause of death and the location where the killing allegedly occurred.
Police believe the homicide was targeted and involved individuals who knew one another.
IHIT Highlights Investigators’ Dedication
Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT praised the persistence of investigators who remained committed to solving the case.
She said the investigation required years of dedicated effort and careful examination of evidence. She also noted that investigators continued to pursue every available lead in their search for answers.
Fong described the charges as a significant milestone and expressed hope that the latest development will provide some comfort to Roberts’ family and loved ones as court proceedings move ahead.
Case Now Before the Courts
With charges now laid, IHIT says it will not release additional details because the matter is before the courts.
As the judicial process begins, the arrest represents a major breakthrough in a homicide investigation that has spanned nearly a decade.
