Human-caused blaze remains out of control as alerts continue

A wildfire burning just south of Pemberton continues to challenge firefighters. The Signal Hill wildfire has reached about 10 hectares, and crews say the fire remains out of control.

Officials believe people caused the fire. As a result, emergency teams continue to monitor conditions closely while they work to limit its spread.

Evacuation alerts remain in place

Meanwhile, evacuation alerts remain active for parts of Pemberton and the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District’s Area C.

Although no evacuation order has been issued, residents should stay prepared. They should also keep track of official updates in case conditions change.

Local officials encourage everyone in affected areas to register for emergency notifications through the Municipality of Pemberton’s alert system. That way, residents can receive important information as soon as it becomes available.

Firefighters continue to monitor conditions

Wildfire conditions can change quickly. Therefore, emergency crews continue to assess the fire and respond as needed.

Smoke remains visible from the area, and the situation continues to evolve. As crews work on the ground, officials ask the public to avoid the area unless travel is necessary. Doing so helps emergency personnel carry out their work safely and efficiently.

Photos capture the growing wildfire

Local photographer David Buzzard visited the area and documented the wildfire with a series of images. His photos show thick smoke and active flames rising from Signal Hill as crews respond to the incident.

Stay informed

Residents should continue to follow updates from the BC Wildfire Service and local emergency officials. In addition, they should monitor evacuation alerts and be ready to act if conditions change.

Emergency officials remind the public that timely information and preparation remain the best tools during wildfire season. As the response continues, authorities will provide new updates whenever more information becomes available.
