Sudden emergency at Whytecliff Park
A calm afternoon turned tragic. Meanwhile, a man was scuba diving near Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver.
Then, trouble began in the water. Moreover, someone called for help around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Emergency crews rush in
However, the situation grew serious fast. In addition, the call went to several agencies.
Therefore, the Canadian Coast Guard, fire crews, and paramedics all responded quickly.
Next, teams worked hard at the scene. Also, they tried to help the diver right away.
Sadly, the 50-year-old man was declared dead at the site.
Family notified, no foul play found
Subsequently, police informed the family. Moreover, officers said there were no signs of anything suspicious.
Therefore, the case is not being treated as criminal.
Second scuba death in just days
Meanwhile, this is the second scuba death in British Columbia in a very short time.
Earlier in the week, a 66-year-old man died near Gabriola Island.
Also, that incident happened off the east coast of Vancouver Island. Moreover, RCMP said there were no suspicious details in that case.
In addition, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed the earlier death was also not treated as criminal.
