Shots Fired in South Newton: Surrey Police Investigate

What Happened on June 9

First, on the morning of June 9, 2026, at about 10:44 a.m., a shooting took place in South Newton in Surrey. Specifically, it happened near 66 Avenue and 129 Street. Also, witnesses reported that one person in a vehicle fired shots at another vehicle. Then, both vehicles quickly left the area.

Meanwhile, the situation created fear in the neighbourhood. Moreover, police later confirmed that nearby homes were hit by gunfire. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Police Arrive and Secure the Area

Next, officers from the Surrey Police Service responded quickly. As a result, they secured the scene and checked for victims. Additionally, they confirmed that at least two homes suffered damage from the bullets.

However, no injuries were reported, and this helped ease immediate concerns. Still, officers treated the scene as serious and active.

Investigation Takes Shape

After that, investigators began working on the case. Furthermore, the situation was handed over to the Major Crime Section. In addition, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services started collecting both physical and digital evidence.

Meanwhile, police said the motive is not clear yet. However, they believe the shooting was targeted. Importantly, they do not believe it is linked to extortion. So, investigators continue to explore other possibilities.

Finally, police are asking the public for help. If anyone saw anything, then they should come forward. Also, anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage is encouraged to share it.
