At the same time, the case remains active, and updates are still coming in.

What happened on the day of the crash

On May 15, a vehicle moved at high speed through a busy area. Then, it drove onto a sidewalk and struck multiple objects. Trees were hit, and vehicles were damaged. In addition, a senior riding a mobility scooter was knocked down.

Shortly after, two officers from the Vancouver Police Department stepped in. They used their police vehicle to stop the driver. Because of this, the rampage came to an end.

Moreover, one police cruiser was heavily damaged, and several trees were knocked over. Also, another person was nearly hit but managed to escape without injury.

Right after the crash, emergency crews rushed in. The senior and two officers were taken to hospital. Fortunately, the officers were treated and released the same day.

However, the senior’s condition remained critical. Sadly, more than a week later, the senior died in hospital. As a result, the case has now taken on even more serious weight.

Police have informed prosecutors about the death. Therefore, additional charges are now under review.

Previously, the suspect faced four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. Now, the legal process may expand further as investigators assess the full harm caused.

At the same time, police confirmed that the suspect has had past interactions with law enforcement in both British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
