Two men face charges after a rural Swift Current shooting tied to a fight. One person was hurt. Court date set for April 22.

Shooting Reported Near Swift Current

Early on Monday, police got a call. It came in around 5 a.m. near Swift Current, Saskatchewan. It was about a gun being fired at a rural property. Right away, RCMP went to the scene. Also, officers began asking questions and gathering facts.

Fight Leads to Gunfire

Soon after, police found out more. A group of people knew each other. Then, a fight started between them. During that fight, guns were fired. As a result, one person went to hospital. However, their injuries were not life-threatening. In addition, police kept working the case through the morning.

Police Arrest Suspects

Next, RCMP arrested three people linked to the incident. However, one person was later released without any charges. Meanwhile, officers kept two men in custody. Also, investigators continued to review what happened and why it escalated so fast.

Charges Laid Against Two Men

After that, police laid charges against two Swift Current men. One is 49 years old. The other is 30 years old. Both now face one count of discharging a firearm with intent. Also, both face one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

In addition, the 49-year-old faces two counts for not following a probation order. At the same time, the 30-year-old faces extra charges. These include assault with a weapon. He also faces two counts for breaking weapon restriction rules.

Court Date Set for April 22

Finally, both men stay in custody. They will go to court in Swift Current on April 22. Meanwhile, the investigation continues as police work to close the case.
