Porter Airlines is taking another bold step in its growth journey. This fall, travelers can enjoy a new nonstop Ottawa–Fort McMurray flight, strengthening ties between Alberta and Eastern Canada. The airline announced the year-round service will begin on November 17, offering three weekly round trips.
Why This Route Matters
The addition is more than a schedule update—it marks a significant milestone. Porter becomes the only airline to provide nonstop service between Ottawa and Fort McMurray. That exclusivity means travelers gain a faster, smoother option without layovers.
This move also signals Porter’s steady expansion in Western Canada, where the airline continues to strengthen its presence and challenge competitors.
Flight Schedule Details
The new route will follow a convenient schedule:
Ottawa to Fort McMurray departs at 9:25 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Fort McMurray to Ottawa departs at 12:50 p.m. on the same days.
These times cater to both business and leisure travelers, ensuring flexibility for connections and same-day planning.
Strengthening Porter’s Western Reach
With this launch, Fort McMurray becomes Porter’s third Alberta destination, joining Calgary and Edmonton. In total, Porter now serves 26 destinations from Ottawa.
The airline also highlights how the route enhances connections. Through Ottawa, travelers from Fort McMurray gain seamless access to Eastern Canadian hubs such as Toronto, Halifax, Moncton, and St. John’s.
Beyond Canada: Porter Looks South
This expansion follows other recent announcements. Porter revealed nonstop flights from Ottawa to Mexico, Costa Rica, and the Bahamas, set to begin in December. Earlier this spring, a new nonstop connection to Victoria, B.C., also took flight.
Each move reflects Porter’s clear strategy: connecting Canadians more directly while extending its network internationally.
Bottom Line
Porter’s nonstop Ottawa–Fort McMurray flights add convenience, speed, and more choice for travelers while strengthening the airline’s Canadian and international footprint.
