Walmart Canada launches its first pharmacy clinic in St. Catharines, offering accessible healthcare services alongside pharmacy support to ease system strain.

Walmart Canada Launches In-Store Pharmacy Clinics

Walmart Canada has officially opened its first in-store pharmacy clinic at the Walmart Supercentre located at 420 Vansickle Road in St. Catharines, Ontario, with plans to expand to other provinces later this year.

This new clinic offers a convenient “one-stop-shop” experience by combining clinical services with pharmacy access under one roof.

Comprehensive Healthcare Services

The clinics provide walk-in style consultations where licensed pharmacists can treat minor ailments such as urinary tract infections, cold sores, allergies, and skin conditions. They also conduct point-of-care testing including blood pressure, HbA1C, and cholesterol checks, alongside medication management and support.

Addressing Healthcare Accessibility Gaps

Alex Hurd, Walmart Canada’s VP of Health Services, emphasized that one in five Canadians lack a regular family doctor or nurse practitioner. These clinics aim to fill that gap by offering non-urgent consultations and easing pressure on emergency departments and traditional walk-in clinics.

The initiative reflects Walmart’s commitment to providing affordable, accessible healthcare solutions to Canadian communities.

Operating Hours and Additional Services

The St. Catharines clinic operates daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Services include minor ailment consultations, vaccinations, prescription renewals, medication therapy management, wellness counseling, and chronic condition support such as heart disease and asthma management.

This development marks a significant step in expanding healthcare access through retail pharmacy clinics in Canada, leveraging pharmacists’ expertise to deliver personalized and effective patient care.
