Canadian Band’s Participation in U.S. Patriotic Tour Sparks Debate

In a bold move, Canadian rock band Nickelback has teamed up with Kid Rock to co-headline the 2025 edition of Rock the Country, a music festival making waves across the United States.

The tour, which launched on April 4, promises an exciting series of performances, bringing together some of the most iconic names in rock, including Hank Williams Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Travis Tritt. But it’s Nickelback’s participation that’s sparking heated discussions among fans, particularly considering the patriotic nature of the event.

A Festival Rooted in Patriotism and Country Music

Described as “more than just a festival” by its official website, Rock the Country is billed as a celebration of “the true heart of America.” The event’s mission is to unite patriotic, hardworking Americans, with music serving as the common thread to bind them together. The festival emphasizes freedom, national pride, and the joy of live music, attracting fans from small towns across the Southern U.S.

“Rock the Country is a gathering for the people who work hard, love America, and respect what the national anthem stands for,” says Kid Rock, a vocal supporter of the event’s theme. The tour makes stops in ten small towns, mainly in the Southern U.S., and has even garnered attention from President Donald Trump, who provided a recorded introduction for Kid Rock’s performance in Greenback, Tennessee.

Nickelback’s Role in the U.S. Patriotic Tour

Despite the festival’s strong ties to U.S. patriotism, it’s a bit unexpected to see Nickelback, a Canadian band, involved in the tour. However, for Nickelback bassist Mike Kroeger, this collaboration is all about reaching new fans and connecting with communities that have been underserved by larger events.

“We’re really looking forward to hitting the road and visiting some amazing towns, especially places we’ve never played before,” Kroeger said in a statement.

“There’s something special about connecting with fans in these communities, and we’re ready to bring our best and truly rock the country.”

Fans’ Reactions: Mixed Feelings About the Canadian Band’s Involvement

The announcement of Nickelback joining Kid Rock on the tour has sparked a mix of reactions, especially on social media. Some fans have expressed surprise and disappointment, with one commenter noting, “Didn’t know you guys were Trumpers. Boo.”

While politics has played a minor role in these reactions, the more prominent feedback revolves around the ticket prices, which range from $140 to $620 for the weekend. Some fans even suggested alternative festivals, like “Rock the West” or “Rock The North,” featuring Canadian artists like Bryan Adams and Loverboy alongside Nickelback.

A Slice of Canada on the Tour

Although some may question the pairing of Nickelback with Kid Rock, others are excited to see the Canadian band stretch their musical legs across the Southern U.S. alongside some country legends.

Fans are also looking forward to Nickelback’s upcoming Canadian performances, including a sold-out show at Laketown Amphitheatre in Lake Cowichan, which promises to be a celebration of all things Canadian.

With Nickelback’s continued popularity and Kid Rock’s unabashed patriotism, the Rock the Country tour promises to deliver a unique musical experience that will surely resonate with both Canadian and American fans.
