Calgary hosts the Global Energy Show from June 10–12, with over 30,000 attendees discussing pipelines, climate policy, and Canada’s energy security.
Energy Leaders Converge in Calgary
The Global Energy Show, Canada’s largest energy business summit, opened June 10 at the BMO Centre in Calgary, drawing over 30,000 attendees and 500 exhibitors from across the globe. The three-day event runs through June 12 and is poised to shape critical conversations around Canada’s energy strategy and global market positioning.
Surge in Interest Reflects Growing Global Stakes
This year’s event has seen a 35% increase in registrations compared to 2024, driven by renewed attention to large-scale infrastructure projects. “The talk that’s continuing to increase about major infrastructure projects—that’s what’s really driving more exhibitors and more delegates,” said Nick Samain, representing the Global Energy Show.
Political Leaders and Pipeline Priorities
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith will address the summit on Wednesday, amid efforts to build consensus with B.C. Premier David Eby over a proposed pipeline project that would transport Alberta oil to the Pacific coast. Alberta’s Energy Minister Brian Jean emphasized the project’s potential: “No other project would provide as large of a positive impact to the Canadian GDP or Indigenous economic reconciliation.”
Addressing Global Challenges and Local Solutions
The conference includes high-level panels tackling energy security, climate policy, and the evolving balance between oil demand and environmental responsibility. Jean also underlined the need for national alignment: “Donald Trump has taught us we need to think of Canada first and more of a Team Canada approach on our energy.”
Global Perspective from Industry Powerhouses
One of the marquee moments of the summit is Tuesday’s keynote by OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais, scheduled for 10 a.m. His appearance signals the show’s expanding influence on global oil dialogue and Canada’s critical role in energy geopolitics.
As momentum builds within and beyond the BMO Centre, the Global Energy Show is cementing Calgary’s role as a hub for energy innovation, policy debate, and international collaboration.
