B.C. Rolls Out the Red Carpet for U.S. Health Care Workers

British Columbia is making a big pitch to American doctors and nurses: come north! The province has launched a six-week advertising campaign targeting health professionals in Washington, Oregon, and parts of California. Through print, video, digital, social media, and audio ads, B.C. aims to catch the attention of those looking for a fresh start—or a return home.

Where You’ll See the Ads

The campaign is everywhere you’d expect—and a few places you might not. Billboards, transit shelters, ride-share screens, and businesses near hospitals are all part of the plan. Even medical trade publications are in on the action. The goal? Reach 80% of health care workers in the targeted areas.

Why B.C. Wants You

Health Minister Josie Osborne says the message is clear: “There has never been a better time to come to British Columbia.” With health care systems in the U.S. facing uncertainty, B.C. is seizing the moment. The province promises a universal health care system, streamlined credentials, and a warm welcome for Canadian professionals living stateside.

Fast-Track Credentials and Support

To make the move easier, B.C. is working with regulatory colleges to speed up credential recognition. For example, U.S. nurses can now register in just a few days instead of months. Doctors may soon practice without extra exams, thanks to upcoming bylaw changes.

Since the initiative was announced in March, 704 doctors and 525 nurses have expressed interest. Already, 113 U.S. nurses have been hired.

Tailored Help for a Smooth Transition

B.C. isn’t just rolling out the welcome mat—it’s offering personalized support. The province provides guidance for U.S. health care workers navigating the application and immigration process, making the journey north as smooth as possible.

A Call to Action for Health Professionals

If you’re a doctor or nurse looking for new opportunities, B.C. wants you. With fast-track credentials, strong support, and a vibrant health care system, the province is making it easier than ever to make the move—or come home.
