Canadians Sound Off Over Post-Tax Season CRA Support Issues
If you’ve tried reaching the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) since filing your taxes in April, you’re not alone in your frustration. From locked accounts to endless busy signals, Canadians across the country are voicing their concerns about being unable to connect with CRA representatives when they need help the most.
‘All Agents Are Busy’—And So Are Canadians
Many taxpayers say they’ve faced a wall of automated messages when trying to contact CRA by phone. With no callback option and zero access to a live agent, the process has left people feeling stranded.
“I call as soon as the lines open and it still says all agents are busy. No option for a call back either? This is just crazy,” wrote one Reddit user. The comment echoed the sentiments of dozens of others on forums and social media.
CRA Account Confusion Adds to Headaches
For some, the problem isn’t just the phone lines—it’s access to their CRA online accounts. X (formerly Twitter) user Peggy Blair shared her own taxing ordeal. After being locked out, she discovered CRA had changed her account username without notice to match her GST return credentials.
“I couldn’t get in, and no one could help,” she wrote, outlining the maze of confusion she encountered trying to get answers.
Users Point to Systemic Issues
Another Reddit post raised a bigger concern: is the CRA simply under-resourced?
“It’s troubling that decisions can be made about one’s tax obligations unilaterally, but there’s no one to talk to about them,” one commenter noted. “Everyone is busy,” they added—highlighting a deeper issue of accessibility and public accountability.
