Community Celebration Set for July 19 in Surrey

Surrey’s Fleetwood neighbourhood is gearing up for a vibrant summer celebration as the second annual Fleetwood Block Party returns on Saturday, July 19. Organized by The Social Tavern, the event promises an afternoon and evening packed with live entertainment, street food, games, and community spirit—all unfolding at the Tavern’s parking lot in the heart of Fleetwood.

A Full Day of Local Talent and Activities

The event begins at 3 p.m. and stretches into the late evening with a program curated for all ages. One of the main attractions is Fleetwood’s Got Talent at 3:30 p.m., where 10 local performers will compete for a $500 cash prize. Attendees can also enjoy live music throughout the day, followed by a late-night DJ set inside The Social Tavern starting at 9:30 p.m.

Also featured are:

  • A beer garden presented by Granville Island Brewing
  • Gourmet street food by Chef Rodrigo Fereira
  • Family-friendly yard games and entertainment
  • Free admission for all, with minors welcome until 9 p.m.

Community Spirit at the Core

Jon Campbell, owner of The Social Tavern, shared his enthusiasm:

“The energy and turnout last year showed us how much Fleetwood loves to come together. This year, we’re building on that momentum and making it even bigger.”

He emphasized that the event is more than just entertainment—it’s about fostering connections, showcasing local talent, and celebrating the businesses and residents that shape Fleetwood.

Local Support Driving the Event

The Fleetwood Business Improvement Association is playing a key role in supporting the block party. Their collaboration with The Social Tavern highlights a shared goal: strengthening community ties while spotlighting Fleetwood’s vibrant local economy and creative spirit.
