Sarah McLachlan’s Comeback: Finding Her Voice Again

After a challenging six months, Sarah McLachlan is stepping back into the spotlight with renewed energy and a voice she’s proud to share. The Canadian singer-songwriter, known for her soulful hits and heartfelt lyrics, admits the journey hasn’t been easy. Yet, she’s ready to perform again, with a new tour and her tenth studio album both arriving this fall.

The Sarah McLachlan School of Music: 24 Years of Impact

While her music has touched millions, McLachlan’s proudest achievement might be the Sarah McLachlan School of Music. This fall, the school marks its 24th year of offering free music education to underserved youth across Vancouver, Surrey, and Edmonton. Starting with just a few hundred kids, the school now welcomes over 1,100 students each year, giving them a creative outlet and a sense of community.

“It’s a huge source of pride. It’s a huge passion of mine,” McLachlan says, reflecting on the school’s growth and the lasting impact of music education.

Honouring Donors and Building a Legacy

Recently, McLachlan and the school community gathered to celebrate longtime supporters, including the late Dona Wolverton and her family. Their contributions, along with many others, have helped the school thrive and expand, ensuring that music remains accessible for generations to come.

Advice for Young Musicians: Stay True, Stay Curious

When asked what advice she’d give to aspiring artists, McLachlan keeps it real: every path is unique, and the journey matters as much as the destination. She encourages young musicians to check in with themselves, stay open-minded, and always let kindness guide their way.

Back on Stage and Ready to Shine

McLachlan’s return to live shows has been emotional and rewarding. After canceling her 30th anniversary tour last year due to vocal challenges, she’s thrilled to announce new tour dates starting October 15 in Victoria and October 17 in Kelowna. Fans can also look forward to her much-anticipated tenth studio album this fall.

The Power of Live Music

Despite an industry that’s changed dramatically, McLachlan remains grateful for her loyal fan base and the magic of performing live. For her, singing isn’t just a career—it’s a calling. As she puts it, “I’m just going to ride that wave,” grateful for every note and every listener.

Sarah McLachlan’s story is proof that resilience, passion, and music can light the way—even after a rough patch. This fall, she’s ready to share her voice and her heart with the world once again
