Fort Edmonton Park Welcomes Visitors for 51st Season

Fort Edmonton Park is set to open its gates on May 17, 2025, marking its 51st season as Canada’s largest living history museum. Before the official launch, about 1,500 children enjoyed an exclusive preview during the foundation’s Community Day, experiencing free activities and exploring the park ahead of the public.

Community Day Becomes New Annual Tradition

Lori Farquharson Persaud, executive director of the Fort Edmonton Foundation, shared that this special preview event is designed to become a cherished yearly tradition. “They get to see the park this year before anybody else does,” she said, highlighting the foundation’s commitment to community engagement.

A Living Museum Celebrating Edmonton’s Diverse Heritage

Fort Edmonton Park offers visitors a unique chance to step back in time and rediscover Edmonton through immersive stories and programs. Laura Nichol, the park’s core programs manager, emphasized the museum’s strong Indigenous focus and its efforts to elevate underrepresented narratives.

Spotlight on Multicultural Stories

The park is dedicated to showcasing Edmonton’s rich multicultural history, including Indigenous culture as well as Islamic, Asian, and Black heritage. These stories are woven into the park’s programs to reflect the city’s diverse past and present.

Special Staycation Discount for Visitors

To encourage local exploration, Fort Edmonton Park is offering a 10% discount on regular ticket prices as part of a staycation campaign. It’s the perfect opportunity for families and residents to experience Edmonton’s history close to home.
