A pair of overnight closures will affect travel through the George Massey Tunnel this weekend as maintenance crews carry out essential work.

Motorists heading through the busy corridor should prepare ahead of time and choose alternate routes to avoid delays.

Tunnel to Close in Both Directions Overnight

The Ministry of Transportation and Transit has scheduled two full overnight closures of the George Massey Tunnel. The shutdowns will allow contractors to complete important maintenance work in both the northbound and southbound lanes.

As a result, traffic will not be able to pass through the tunnel during the closure periods.

The scheduled closures are:

• Friday, June 5, 2026: 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 6
• Saturday, June 6, 2026: 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 7
