Langley RCMP Uncover Suspected Drugs and Weapons During Traffic Stop

A routine traffic stop in Langley quickly turned into a major police investigation after officers uncovered a large quantity of suspected drugs and several weapons inside an SUV.

The discovery has raised concerns about drug trafficking activity in the community. As a result, Langley RCMP continues to investigate while forensic testing moves forward.

Erratic Driving Draws Police Attention

The incident began around 4:15 p.m. on June 4. Members of the Langley RCMP Special Response Team spotted a vehicle travelling erratically near Logan Avenue and Glover Road.

According to police, the SUV repeatedly drifted out of its lane and came close to hitting a curb. Because of the unsafe driving behaviour, officers conducted a targeted traffic stop.

Officers Spot Signs of Drug Trafficking

While speaking with the occupants, officers noticed items inside the vehicle that appeared to be linked to drug trafficking.

As the investigation unfolded, police arrested the driver and three passengers on suspicion of possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

More Than a Kilogram of Suspected Cocaine Seized

A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of more than one kilogram of what investigators believe is cocaine.

In addition, officers located materials that police say could be used to package drugs for distribution.

The significant amount of suspected narcotics suggests the drugs may have been intended for sale rather than personal use.

Weapons Also Found Inside the SUV

Along with the suspected drugs, officers recovered several weapons from the vehicle.

Police seized bear spray, a large hunting knife, and an imitation handgun during the search.

The presence of both drugs and weapons has added another layer of concern to the ongoing investigation.

Four Released as Investigation Continues

Although all four individuals were arrested at the scene, they have since been released while investigators gather additional evidence.

The seized drugs, weapons, and related materials are now undergoing detailed analysis. Investigators say the results will help determine the next steps in the case.

RCMP Emphasizes Public Safety

Langley RCMP Sgt. Zynal Sharoom says the seizure highlights the dangers often associated with drug trafficking.

“The significant quantity of suspected drugs and presence of weapons is deeply concerning and underscores the risks associated with this type of criminal activity,” Sharoom said.

He added that public safety remains a top priority and that officers will continue working to remove dangerous substances and weapons from local streets.

As the investigation progresses, police are expected to review forensic results before deciding whether charges will be recommended.

Abbotsford Officer Hurt in Langley Hit-and-Run Crash

Collision During Evening Patrol

An Abbotsford police officer was injured Friday evening after a hit-and-run crash involving an unmarked police vehicle and a white GMC Canyon pickup truck in Langley. The incident occurred at approximately 7:22 p.m. on Nov. 14 in the 5200 block of 264th Street, where the two vehicles collided during routine on-duty travel.

Suspects Flee the Scene

According to Langley RCMP, the driver and a passenger of the pickup truck fled on foot immediately after the impact. The officer involved sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital, where they were expected to be released shortly, as confirmed in a late-night update from Cpl. Brett Urano.

Joint Response and Ongoing Search

First responders from Abbotsford Police Department and Langley RCMP attended the scene to assist the injured officer and begin the search for the individuals who fled. Authorities say identifying and locating the occupants of the truck remains a priority to ensure their wellbeing and further the investigation.

Traffic Delays and Road Closures

The crash caused significant delays around 264th Street and Highway 1 as police closed off sections of the road for several hours. Investigators worked to secure the scene, redirect traffic, and gather early evidence related to the collision.

Specialized Investigation Underway

Langley RCMP has taken lead on the case and has brought in the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) to determine the cause of the crash. Officials say the investigation is still in its early stages and may take time as evidence is reviewed and witnesses come forward.

Police Appeal for Dashcam Footage

Investigators are urging anyone who was in the area at the time—particularly drivers with dashcam footage—to contact Langley RCMP. Officers are also seeking anyone with information on the individuals inside the GMC Canyon who has not yet spoken with police.

Residents or witnesses can contact Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and reference file number 2025-37451.

A fourth-alarm fire tore through a Langley construction site early Friday. Crews from Surrey assisted as RCMP seek dashcam footage for the investigation.

Major Blaze Overnight in Langley

An early morning fire in Langley, B.C., escalated to a fourth alarm overnight, drawing in firefighters from both the Township of Langley and Surrey. The fire broke out shortly after midnight on Friday, August 8, 2025, and quickly grew in intensity.

Details of the Fire

The blaze consumed a large structure that was still under construction. Langley RCMP later confirmed that the building was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported. Firefighters battled flames for hours as thick smoke filled the surrounding area.

Community Impact

Authorities are urging the public to avoid the scene while crews continue to secure the site. The Langley City Firefighters Association noted that members remain on standby to support colleagues and extended thoughts to all those affected by the incident.

Why the Alarm Reached Fourth Level

The fire’s size and complexity required multiple units to respond. Surrey Fire Services joined Township of Langley firefighters to provide backup as crews worked to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby properties. Fourth-alarm status typically indicates a large-scale response involving dozens of personnel and equipment.

How Investigators Are Responding

Langley RCMP have launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze. Officers are seeking dashcam footage from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the area, under file number 2025-21746. Police believe video evidence could help determine how the fire started.

Next Steps

With the fire now largely contained, investigators will remain on site in the coming days to assess damage and gather evidence. Updates from Langley City are expected as officials work to restore normalcy in the affected area.
